My Father's Dream

Shot and edited during the early stages of the RIIS Multimedia Project, story editor, Janine Windolph presents Reverend Maggie Deiter and a personal story from her father. A United Church minister and descendant of two students from the Regina Indian Industrial School (1891-1910), Deiter recalls her father's dream of reconciliation and forgiveness.

Residential School Hockey

From the RIIS Media archives, Edmonton Oilers honor First Nations hockey players. Distinguished former players Fred Sasakamoose, Ted Hodgson, and Chief Wilton Littlechild oversee the ceremonial puck drop. A former Chicago Black Hawk, Fred Sasakamoose talks about life in Residential School and the National Hockey League during the 1950s. A trio of First Nations and metis women, the Asani Singers, sing an enchanting version of the Canadian national anthem to a packed Rexall Place house.
